The Mechrey community has 340 houses and around 1900 inhabitants. The village is 2.5 km long and covered by floating mangrove trees from September to mid-December. During the dry season in mid-December, the village moves 6 km towards the lake side, closer to the floating forest of mangrove trees. The view of the village is still amazing, with two lines of houses visible.
To reach the Mechrey floating village, you can travel by boat for about 20 minutes from September to mid-December. Kayaking around the village for 2 km, you can learn about the daily life of these people who have lived on this great lake for more than 7 generations. Activities include visiting the houses of the villagers, experiencing remote cuisine on the spot when they cook for lunch, homemade blacksmithing, and stopping at the grocery store to chat about their famous grocery and their work on fixing the fishing net from the fishery the night before. You can also visit the school and pagoda to learn about the traditions and cultures of these people.
we will depart by boat to the mangrove tree forest for kayaking into the amazing nature and animal sanctuary forest. You can see bees, frogs, monkeys, dragonflies, butterflies, squirrels, egrets, cranes, snails on the tree, and many more. It would be great for fishing too. The kayaking trail takes around 40 minutes to complete, providing a pleasurable and unforgettable memory.
